Daniel Jones ‘will announce his next team imminently’ amid significant interest for ex-Giants QB

Daniel Jones’ next team is set to be announced imminently, according to a new report.

Jones, the ex-Giants quarterback who was benched and then released by the team last week, has received plenty of interest as a new free agent.

And according to Josina Anderson, Jones will be telling teams tomorrow of his decision.

Anderson added that Jones had ‘zeroed’ in on his choice for his next team. 

Previous reports have indicated that Jones preferred to end the season with a team in playoff contention, with Fox Sports’ Jordan Schultz saying that the 2-9 Raiders had been eliminated from his consideration.

He was benched and then released last week amid a disappointing sixth season with Big Blue

Nonetheless, Anderson noted that Las Vegas – who have just lost quarterback Gardner Minshew II for the season to a collarbone injury – are interested in the 27-year-old Jones.

Additionally, Jones has been linked with the likes of the Vikings, Ravens and 49ers – whose Brock Purdy missed last weekend’s game with a shoulder injury.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter previously named the Vikings and Ravens as two of the likeliest teams to land him.  

Minnesota (9-2) and Baltimore (8-4) are gearing up for expected postseason berths and could use Jones as insurance for their respective starters, Sam Darnold and Lamar Jackson.

There were also rumors that Jones could be signing with the Cowboys, as his picture briefly appeared on the Cowboys website as an active roster member minutes after his release from the Giants

However, Cowboys vice president Stephen Jones later said the team has no interest in signing Jones.

‘No, I think we’re in good shape at our quarterback spot,’ Jones said. ‘We think Cooper (Rush) gives us the best chance to win right now. And certainly we still want to see some.

‘We’ll kind of see how the season goes here. We still really want to see (Trey) Lance and like what he brings to the table. And then, of course, long term, we all know we made our commitment to Dak (Prescott) for the long term.’

Rush has been starting in Prescott’s place since the usual starter suffered a season-ending hamstring injury, but the former was listed on the Cowboys’ injury report for this with a knee injury.

Nonetheless, Dallas coach Mike McCarthy said that Rush should be ‘fine’ for the team’s Thanksgiving clash against the Giants.
