Les Boyd has hit back at arch rival Darryl Brohman after fresh life was breathed into their 41-year feud on Wednesday.

Brohman took to social media platform X to vent his fury after NSW Blues legend and Origin rival Boyd was one of 11 need inductees into the NRL Hall of Fame.

Boyd famously left Brohman with a broken jaw during an Origin game in 1983 after he raised his elbow in a front-on tackle on the Queensland star.

Brohman was sidelined for nine months as a result of the hit while Boyd copped a 12-month suspension for the violent conduct.

TV and radio personality Brohman has since argued that the ugly incident cost him his place in the Australia team while he also took legal action against Boyd, which was settled out of court.

Boyd was also given a 15-month ban for eye gouging Canterbury star Billy Johnstone in 1984.

Brohman cited his own case and the Johnstone incident in slamming the decision to reward Boyd with a place in the NRL Hall of Fame.

‘Les Boyd…..9 Months suspension for breaking my Jaw in 1983. 12 Months for Eye gouging Billy Johnston … … Gets inducted into the Rugby League Hall of Fame. Please!!!!’ he tweeted.

Brohman’s tweet elicited a number of responses in agreement with the 2GB pundit, with some labelling Boyd’s induction a ‘disgrace’.

But the former Kangaroos forward has hit back at Brohman and his critics, insisting he ‘couldn’t give a f***’ what others think.

‘He should be grateful that I did it, otherwise no one would remember him,’ he told News Corp.

‘Honestly, I couldn’t give a f**k. Let him worry about it. He’s the one who can’t let it go. I’m over it. It’s in the past.’

The pair crossed paths at the races in 2018, and Boyd went on to share his recollection of the encounter.

‘He came up to me and said he felt uncomfortable and that he would come over and say ‘g’day’,’ Boyd said.

‘I said ‘don’t feel uncomfortable, enjoy the races, I don’t give a ‘f**k’ and I walked away. That’s the only time I’ve spoken to him.’

The NRL, explaining its decision to induct Boyd, said: ‘Boyd was one of the game’s hardmen during one of the toughest eras, in the 1970s and 1980s, representing Australia in 17 Test matches.’

Yet his career was marred by a string of controversies, including the Brohman incident that left the Queensland star unable to play for the rest of the 1983 season.

‘At the end of the day he doesn’t like me and I don’t like him,’ Brohman said in 2013. ‘I am happy for him not to be part of my life and he would feel the same.’
