Statistically speaking, the first Sunday in the New Year has been the most active for dating sites.
Match.com is expecting a 42 per cent increase in new membership from single folk, according to reporting from ABC News.
2.75million new members signed up for the site on the day last year, according to Match.com.
Dating Sunday also saw 44million new matches being made on Tinder, the dating app shared. Tinder averages out approximately 26million matches, a day.

Tinder even went as far as to assert that 10 per cent of all their matches are made in January.
‘People have resolved to be more adventurous and try something new, so we’ve noticed that more and more people sign on to Tinder during the first Sunday of the month,’ said Rosette Pambakian, Tinder’s vice president of brand marketing and communications.
‘Sunday is traditionally the busiest day of the week for Tinder use, and the ‘try something new’ mindset [with the new year] really amplifies this.’
