Daughter charged after 100-year-old mom found dead

  • Columbus police say her mother was found during a welfare check Sunday
  • Officials at a hospital where the mother was taken said she looked dehydrated
  • The court has remanded Pastuszynski and set her bond at $3,500

The body of a 100-year-old woman has been found lying on the floor in her own urine, three days after she died, police say. 

Her daughter Debra Pastuszynski, 63, has pleaded not guilty to neglect of an elderly or disabled person at a hearing Tuesday after she was arrested.

Columbus police say they arrived at the 700 block of Crockett Drive around 5.22pm Sunday after being called for a welfare check.

Officer Dan Germoulus testified that Pastuszynski said her mother fell. 

Pastuszynski told police she attempted to feed her mother but she refused.

Officials at a hospital where the mother was taken said she looked dehydrated.

Pastuszynski did not testify at the hearing. She was represented by attorney Clark Adams.

Judge Julius Hunter set Pastuszynski’s bond at $3,500.

Pastuszynski appeared to have been her mother’s caretaker before her death Sunday, chronicling their relationship in a series of YouTube videos over the past several years. 

The videos show Pastuszynski feeding and grooming her mother at their home as the elderly woman struggles to speak and manage her everyday affairs.
