Dave Grohl’s wife was a teenage model who loved his music 8 years before they met – but his eerie prediction about her could now come true after cheating scandal

Jordyn Blum succeeded in achieving what every young fangirl hopes for – marrying her rockstar crush and building an idyllic life together.

But after 21 years of marriage and three children, her marriage to Foo Fighters’ frontman Dave Grohl has come to a bitter fork in the road after it was revealed he has fathered a secret love child.

For many years, it had seemed like Dave and Jordyn had the rare secret to a successful marriage in showbiz, with the musician described by many as a ‘family man’.

For one-time Nirvana fangirl Jordyn, marrying Dave was a dream come true. She revealed in a 1994 photoshoot with Teen magazine that she loved alternative music and namechecked the rock band fronted by Kurt Cobain – with Dave as the drummer.

They met in person in a bar eight years later, only for Dave to ghost her after a few dates. She then she caught his eye again in a chewing gum commercial months later and in his own words he was ‘changed forever’.

But despite tying the knot at home in LA two years later in 2003 and welcoming three daughters – Violet, Harper and Ophelia – Grohl made an eerie prediction about their relationship right from their first meeting – which now feels more pertinent than ever.

Yesterday, Grohl shocked fans around the world by posting a statement to his Instagram account, revealing he had fathered a child outside of his marriage but would be ‘doing everything’ to save his marriage to Jordyn.

The statement read: ‘I’ve recently become the father of a new baby daughter, born outside of my marriage. I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her.

‘I love my wife and my children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness. We’re grateful for your consideration toward all the children involved, as we move forward together.’

The shocking statement is far from the relationship’s sweet beginnings, which saw Jordyn fangirling over her future husband.

Eight years before they met, Jordyn had confessed in a cover shoot with Teen Magazine that her favourite bands were ‘alternative’ – and included Nirvana.

As a teenager, Jordyn worked as a model and was a regular on the cover of Teen Magazine from 1990 to 1994.

At the time, she’d just featured in a national advertising campaign for Maybelline, and shared her haircare secrets (shampooing and conditioning every other day and using ‘gels that make your hair shine’) with Teen Magazine.

In terms of make-up, she said she liked her skin to look ‘super clean and natural’ and didn’t wear make-up to school, but would wear lipstick if she ‘went out’.

In a quick-fire questionnaire, Jordyn said her favourite music was ‘alternative’, including ‘Pearl Jam’ and Nirvana’ and that her career goals were to become a ‘movie producer and director’.

Dave was the drummer in Nirvana until the group disbanded in 1994 after Kurt Cobain’s suicide. He established the Foo Fighters, initially as a solo project, the following year.

But despite being a huge Nirvana fan, it wasn’t until 2001 that Jordyn finally met Dave in person at the Sunset Marquis Whiskey Bar in West Hollywood, California, where he was hanging out with his late bandmate Taylor Hawkins.

There, and during their first meeting, Grohl made an eerie prediction about their relationship, calling Jordyn his ‘future ex-wife’.

Recounting their first meeting in a 2007 GQ interview, he recalled the premonition.

He said: ‘Taylor and I were hanging out at the Sunset Marquis whiskey bar. Taylor was the looker. I mean, girls would send him drinks. Some bombshell comes up and starts talking to Taylor.

‘I was just out of a Tenacious D session. I’ve got Vans trainers on, no socks, dirty shorts and a dirty T-shirt, surrounded by beautiful Hollywood. She waved her friend Jordyn over. I was like, “Oh my God. Not a chance!”. So I’m just having some drinks and acting like a jackass.

And by the end of the night I was p***ed and I’m staring at her going, “You’re my future ex-wife”. So she gave me her number: ‘”Jordyn, your future ex-wife”.’

In his statement, Grohl promised to do ‘everything’ to ‘regain’ the trust of his wife and children, but naturally it raises the question of whether his throwaway flirty statement could come true more than 20 years later.

Grohl told Elle in 2007 that he was not ready for a serious relationship when they first met, and stopped calling Blum after a few dates.

However, when he saw Jordyn in an enticing advert for Chloralit chewing gum, he soon changed his mind.

The sexy campaign saw her strolling through the subway pickpocketing gum from men’s pockets when they weren’t looking or when she kissed them.

Grohl said he began having ‘settling down dreams’, saying he ‘changed forever’ over the next two weeks.

He shared: ‘After three months, I had a revelation and called her back. She picked up the phone and said, “Oh, I never thought I’d hear from you again”.’

Grohl was drummer in Nirvana until 1994, when Kurt Cobain died aged 27. That same year, he founded the Foo Fighters as the lead songwriter.

By this time, Blum had left modelling behind for a job as a producer at MTV, and her connection to the Foo Fighters certainly helped her land some high profile gigs.

She has collaborated with the Foo Fighters several times, including in the band’s 2002 video White Limo, where she made an appearance.

She also co-directed the Foo Fighter’s 2002 Walking a Line music video.

In 2007, Grohl told The Guardian, ‘[My wife] Jordyn and [daughter] Violet are anchors that keep me from completely disappearing.’

Speaking to TIME in 2012, he said his family ‘changed everything that I do.’

He added: ‘When you have kids, you see life through different eyes. You feel love more deeply and are maybe a little more compassionate. It’s inevitable that that would make its way into your songwriting.’

In recent years, their marriage has seemed stronger than ever, with the Everlong singer and Jordyn even getting matching tattoos in May 2023.

The couple visited tattoo parlour Best Wishes in LA, with Dave getting a cardinal bird and the initials VA, thought to be a tribute to his mother Virginia, who passed away in July 2022.

Jordan chose a sweet echo of her husband’s tattoo for the joint visit, with simple birds sketched onto her arm.

Just two months ago, Jordyn and Dave were spotted together at the Wimbledon tennis championships and put on a united display, with Jordyn looking chic in a lilac blazer and matching midi dress.

Dave’s net worth is said to be $300million, according to online reports, meaning that Jordyn could land herself a considerable sum in the case of a divorce.

The rock star has previously confessed he dislikes spending money, and only owns one house and one family car.

In an interview with The Red Bulletin in 2017, he said: ‘It goes straight into my bank account, where it turns all moldy and smelly.’

He added: ‘I drive a family car — not a monster SUV, but a family car that fits five people.

‘I’ve got a house that is just big enough, too. I don’t waste my time thinking about how I could make more when I already got enough. I’m not a banker, I’m a musician.’

While there may not be the same collection of mansions, supercars and other valuable assets to divide up like in other celebrity divorces, if Dave hasn’t been splashing his cash, it stands to reason that he has a tidy sum in the bank.

It’s not clear whether the couple have a prenup in place.

Grohl divorced his first wife Jennifer Leigh Youngblood in 1997 after admitting to infidelity on his part.

He told Melody Maker magazine two years later: ‘I was 25, my wife was even younger. We weren’t ready to get married.

‘I miss her a tonne, she’s the funniest goddamn weirdo you ever met in your life. Absolutely adorable. It would have been better had we not got married. But you live and you learn.’

In the wake of yesterday’s news, an interview with Grohl’s late mother Virginia reemerged, in which she admitted her fears for her son’s love life.

Speaking to The Guardian in 2017, Virginia – who sadly died in 2022 – confessed she was more worried about how her son would fare with women than whether he’d be dragged into the pitfalls of a rock and roll lifestyle.

Reflecting on Grohl’s new-found celebrity back in the early Nineties, she admitted: ‘I did worry about women. It’s so embarrassing, but my biggest fear was that Madonna would snatch him up.’

Virginia also touched on Grohl’s status as ‘the nicest man in rock’.

The former teacher-turned-author spoke with fellow mothers of rock stars while researching a book and noted they ‘secretly value unreported acts of generosity and kindness’ more than the platinum discs – the ‘commitments to family or community’.

She went on to describe Grohl as ‘a philanthropist, a steady husband and a “superdad” to his three daughters’.

Grohl made headlines earlier this summer when he publicly blasted Taylor Swift, suggesting the singer doesn’t sing live.

The Foo Fighters frontman took a swipe at the pop queen, dubbing her sell out tour the ‘errors’ tour while quipping that his band ‘actually play live’.

While performing at the London Stadium, he referred to Swift while she was playing the same night on the other side of the capital in Wembley – to boos from some fans.

He addressed the crowd: ‘We were joking about the Taylor Swift tour earlier. I know that she’s on her ‘errors’ tour.

‘I tell you man, you don’t want to suffer the wrath of Taylor Swift. So we like to call our tour the Errors Tour.

‘We’ve had more than a few eras, and more than a few f***ing errors as well. Just a couple.’

The band leader clarified: ‘That’s because we actually play live. What?’

To great cheers, he continued: ‘Just saying. You guys like raw live rock ‘n’ roll music right? You came to the right f***ing place!’
