Dave ‘Hughesy’ Hughes braves the cold as he goes for a swim with his wife Holly and their children in Melbourne

Dave ‘Hughesy’ Hughes braved the cold on Sunday as he took his family to the beach on Father’s Day.

The chilly Melbourne temperatures didn’t stop the comedian, 53, from stripping down to a pair of shorts and going for a swim with his wife Holly, and their children Rafferty, 15, Sadie, 13, and Tess, 11.

The windy weather was no deterrent for the Hughes brood, who were happy to spend some quality family time together in the water.

Hughesy looked relaxed as he went for a swim in dark blue and white patterned board shorts.

Stepping out of the water, he ‘rugged up’ by wrapping a quirky blue towel around his waist that was festooned with Dachshunds.

Dave further showed off his sartorial style with a pair of fashion-forward bone-coloured Crocs, complete with an array of charms attached.

He finished his Father’s day ensemble with a Carlton AFL baseball-style cap.

His wife Holly opted for a leopard print swimsuit before putting on a Wrangler graphic T-shirt after the dip.

Dave looked chuffed to be in the company of his family, appearing to share a joke as they headed back to the car after the beach visit.

The family outing comes after he exploded in an on-air rant following an apparent Logies snub.

The comedian appeared on The Fox’s Fifi, Fev & Nick last month in when he called this year’s celebrity attendees a bunch of ‘losers’.

Hughesy then launched into a tirade at his invitation snub, exclaiming he hosted the event four times and had now been overlooked.

He officially hosted the Logie Awards in 2007 with Fifi Box and gave the opening monologue at the Logies from 2016 to 2019.

‘I’ve enjoyed doing the Logies in the past… and look, I wasn’t invited on Sunday night. So, I was just at home,’ he said.

The comedian then began yelling about not getting an invite.

‘I hosted it four times in a row and no invite. No invite! Not even an invite! The amount of losers in that room…’ the comedic rant continued.

‘I presented for twenty years in a row and didn’t even get an invite!’

Host Brendan Fevola then tried to reason with Dave.

‘You’ve got no shows on TV though, why would you get invited?’

But Hughesy had a response to this, saying that while he may not host a show, he is ubiquitous on television.

It has been a year of mixed fortunes for Dave after his Hughesy, Ed & Erin 2DayFM breakfast show sensationally come to an end last month amid spiralling ratings and ‘commitment issues’.

‘We’ve loved our time together on 2DayFM Breakfast, however, due to some of our families living in different cities we are unable to commit to 2025.

‘So with a heavy heart we are moving aside so 2DayFM can find the team to take them forward in Breakfast,’ Hughsey, Ed and Erin said in a statement.

‘We are so grateful to Sydney for their support, and to double the number of listeners in three years is something we are immensely proud of, and we will miss each and every one of them.’
