Dave Portnoy boasts that his gambling record should be ‘taught in history books’ as he reveals he will be $7.5MILLION in profit if the Celtics and Oilers win in Finals

Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy is relishing in his betting success this year – and he could be on track to win more if the Boston Celtics and Edmonton Oilers win their respective championships.

Portnoy quote-tweeted a graphic of his winnings from back in April as he christened himself the ‘hottest gambler on the planet’ and updated his fans on his progress for 2024.

‘Guys I hate to be that guy but I have the Celtics for 1.1million and the Oilers for another million,’ Portnoy tweeted.

‘If both those teams win I will be up 7.5million in 2024 and have won every big event this year. This run should be taught in history books.’

Portnoy’s success this season is remarkable – having won bets placed on nearly every major sports championship in the United States so far this year.

His year began with winning a million dollars on his alma mater, the University of Michigan, beating Alabama in the Rose Bowl.

He doubled his New Years Day luck with an extra $500,000 when Washington beat Texas in the Sugar Bowl.

Portnoy then raked in another $500k when Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs won Super Bowl LVIII over the San Francisco 49ers.

His biggest bet came in March Madness, when he won $2.1million as the UConn Huskies won their sixth men’s basketball national title over Purdue.

The Barstool founder’s most recent win was at The Masters – when Scottie Scheffler’s victory netted Portnoy $1.3m.

Now, in order to reach $7.5m in winnings, he’ll need the Celtics and Oilers to win the NBA Finals and the Stanley Cup Finals respectively.

Boston will have to contend with a Dallas Mavericks team that beat the Minnesota Timberwolves in five games and looked strong throughout that series.

As for Edmonton, they’ll face the Florida Panthers – who look much better this season than they did the year prior.
