David and Victoria Beckham ‘install prison-style razor wire fence’ around their Cotswolds mansion to beef up security after break-in attempts

David and Victoria Beckham have reportedly erected a prison-style razor wire fence around their Cotswolds mansion to ward off burglars.

According to The Sun, the couple had the fence installed after two attempted break-ins at the luxurious abode.

One neighbour told the publication: ‘I was surprised to find out it didn’t need planning permission. It makes the place look like Colditz.’

The first attempted break-in occurred last October when the Beckham family were in Australia while seven security guards and two dogs chased a man away from the property weeks later.

MailOnline has contacted representatives for David and Victoria for further comment.

At the time of the break-ins, a source told the Mail on Sunday: ‘David and Victoria are absolutely devastated by this.

‘They are extremely protective of their family and their home life so the thought that people would intrude on that is just so upsetting for them.

‘This has hit them hard. Victoria has been upset for the last couple of days about this, it has been so tough for her.

‘It is frightening and dreadful to think someone would be intruding on their personal space. David hates the fact he has to have such high tech and extremely tight security around him.

‘He would love to be normal but his number one priority is to protect his wife, children and wider family. He is absolutely furious that he has now has to increase his security even more.’

David and Victoria also added to the property last October, enlisted the help of Chelsea Flower Show winner Marcus Barnett to create a two-tier English country garden.

The family was granted permission for a 60ft croquet lawn, an orchard with apple, pear and plum trees and two vegetable patches.

It comes after the couple have just celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary in style as they enjoyed a private tour of the Palace of Versailles in France on Friday.

Taking to Instagram, the couple were the picture of happiness in a slew of snaps from the occasion, with Victoria hearkening back to her wedding with a bridal-white midi dress

The couple’s outing came after they marked 20 years of marriage a day earlier with a slew of social media snaps, documenting their relationship since their incredibly lavish wedding in 1999.

As Victoria hearkened back to their nuptials with her bridal-esque white satin dress, David was suited and booted for the occasion.

Revealing that they were given a private tour of the palace gardens, Victoria captioned her snap: ‘A private tour, dream come true!! Nous avons eu le privilège de vivre un moment magique au Château de Versailles. X Kisses.’

The post translates to read: ‘We had the privilege of experiencing a magical moment at the Château de Versailles.’

The star then shared another series of snaps, and used the caption to pay a touching tribute to husband David and her family.

She wrote: ‘The most incredible visit on a very special day. Thank u to everyone who made it so memorable and all our family and friends for always supporting us as a family.

‘Can’t believe it’s been 20 years! So many kisses xxx VB @davidbeckham @brooklynbeckham @romeobeckham @cruzbeckham #HarperSeven.’
