David Arquette pays tribute to ‘my brother’ Shifty Shellshock after Crazy Town frontman’s death at 49: ‘Champions never die’

With the death of Seth ‘Shifty Shellshock’ Binzer, David Arquette is mourning the loss of a true friend.

The Emmy Award nominee, 52, paid tribute to the late Crazy Town frontman in a heartfelt Instagram post after Binzer was found dead at age 49 on Sunday.  

‘I’m sending all my love to my brother Seth @therealcrazytown and his family. Shifty as I knew him when we first met during a graffiti battle in an LA yard,’ he captioned the post on Wednesday.

‘He was such an incredible man with a huge heart. We Shared a lot of the same struggles and I want his family to find love and healing during this painful time. 

‘Thank you for these beautiful photos @moonfrye,’ added Arquette. ‘Champions never die they only go on to fight somewhere else. Love you kid.’

His post included photos and videos of himself with Binzer, Soliel Moon Frye, Seth Green and other friends. 

Binzer began dating Moon Frye, 47, a childhood friend, in 2022. 

Arquette was previously one of several former child stars to appear in the Punky Brewster actress’s 2021 documentary Kid 90.

On Monday, Binzer was found dead on the floor of his Los Angeles home, and police believe he was dead for more than 24 hours before.

The death is being investigated as a possible overdose as a lighter and drug paraphernalia were found near Binzer’s body.

He had recently declared himself sober following three years of substance abuse struggles.  

Binzer wrote on Instagram eight weeks ago: ‘I’m a lover than a fighter… but the one I need to love more Instead of fight with is myself.. Mr. Shifty true Love # Sober alive and grateful (sic)’

The ‘Butterfly artist struggled with drug addiction for many years, and was hospitalized in 2012 after losing consciousness and slipping into a coma.   

He appeared on the reality shows Celebrity Rehab and Sober House.

In his cryptic final social media post, Binzer showed his appreciation for ‘the ones who stay even when I try my hardest to scare them away.’

The ‘Butterfly’ artist shared the caption with a photo of someone dressed in all black, standing in a crowd of people clad in only white. ‘Real is rare, fake is everywhere,’ text on the image read.  

Arquette has been open about his own struggles with addiction, checking into rehab at the Betty Ford Center in 2011 for ‘alcohol and other issues.’
