David Beckham treats daughter Harper to personalised football shirt

He’s not afraid to showcase his affection when it comes to his four children.

So it’s no surprise David Beckham picked up a personalised number 7 football jersey for his only daughter Harper Seven, 6, ahead of the Germany v England 2018 SheBelieves Cup match in New Jersey’s Red Bull Arena on Sunday.

The football legend, 42, proudly held up the shirt alongside England Lioness Lucy Bronze, 26, shortly before kick-off.

The former midfielder kept it casual in a black sweater and a pair of indigo jeans, teamed with a stylish ribbed beanie.

The LA Galaxy star beamed with pride at the football tournament, where he joined former Manchester United teammate Phil Neville, who was appointed as England Women’s head coach in January.

The team drew with Germany for a 2 -2 result: Ellen White kept England on course with both goals, while Millie Bright and Hasret Kayikçi scored for the two-time world champion squad.

Speaking of David’s passion for the sport at the match, 41-year-old manager said: ‘His enthusiasm for the women’s game is fantastic and as soon as I got the job he said he was coming to the game.’

‘He was in New York because it was his son’s [Brooklyn] birthday. He’s 19, I think, although I should probably know that really shouldn’t I…’

‘He’s here with his wife, but he wanted to come into the dressing, meet the players and say a few words about what playing for England meant to him. He spoke really well.’

The footballer previously revealed that his number 7 shirt while he played for Manchester United and England had also played a strong part choosing Seven as a middle name for Harper.

He explained in 2011: ‘Seven you know, a lot of people have assumed its just because of my shirt number that I wore for many years and part of it is because I had so much luck around wearing that number, wearing it for England, wearing it for Manchester United.

‘It was such an influential number throughout my career and a lucky number… but that wasn’t the main reason.

‘The other reasons behind Seven was because it symbolises spiritual perfection, the Seven Wonders Of The World, seven colours of the rainbow and in many cultures around the world it’s regarded as a lucky number.

‘So we love the name, we love Harper Seven. We’re very proud of having her in our lives and in our family and it’s an amazing time for our family right now.

David and wife Victoria, 43, proved to be on a tight schedule as they celebrated Brooklyn’s birthday just a few hours before in the Big Apple.

The Spice Girls star shared a photo of the photography student smiling alongside Romeo, 15, Cruz, 13, and Harper on Sunday.

Brooklyn proudly stood behind his brothers while Harper took centre stage as she gave a cheeky thumbs up to the camera.
