David Campbell has revealed the terrifying moment his wife Lisa called him to say there’d been a break-in at their home.

In a column for Stellar Magazine, the 45-year-old says it happened shortly after the family had installed an alarm system at their Sydney home.

Lisa and the couple’s children –  Leo, 8, and twins Billy and Betty, 3, were all home sleeping, when the alarm went off just after 2am.

David was in Los Angeles at the time, sitting in the airport waiting for his flight, unaware of the drama unfolding at home.

‘[Lisa] put in the [alarm] code, and then she heard the sneakers squeaking. More than one set. Lisa started yelling, “Get out of my house!”

‘Thankfully, they ran. She dialled triple zero and then called me. Within minutes of being on the phone to me, the police showed up,’ he wrote.

It turns out a group of six teenagers had tried to break into various homes on the block, David says.

David added: ‘”Someone is in the house” was not what I was expecting my wife to say to me while I was stranded in LA’.

He went on to relate he was happy that the family had installed the alarm at the house, which they were only living in for six months at the time.

The singer and TV host celebrated a decade with his wife Lisa last last year, sharing a heartfelt message on Instagram for their anniversary.
