David Campbell reveals his one major concern about raising children: ‘I am constantly living in fear about this’

David Campbell has revealed his biggest fear for his children is the influence social media will have on them.

The father-of-three, 49, spoke to Nine Honey this week about his concerns.

‘It is difficult. I am constantly living in fear about this,’ the TV star said, adding he was concerned about giving a phone to his son.

‘There’s the horror of being a parent, knowing that the whole world is online and we all know that online is a horrible place,’ he added.

‘You don’t want them to lose their innocence too early.’

The TV presenter celebrated a milestone in April, sharing a rare photo to Instagram.

‘Nine years sober this week. I was in Broome with my wife and son (pre twins). This happy photo of me is from this time once I made the decision. I am still happy,’ he wrote.

‘Like a weight has been removed from my shoulders (and liver). Stay strong. If you are struggling seek help.’

David has spoken openly about his battle with alcohol in the past, admitting that while he wasn’t an addict, it was a slippery slope.

‘I was a part of our ‘booze culture’. Was I an alcoholic? No. Did I have the propensity to become one? Yes. Very much so,’ he wrote in an editorial for The Daily Telegraph in April 2015.

‘There is addiction on both sides of my family and I was standing at the doorway of a very dark room.’

‘My father has, one could say, a reputation of being the hardest partying rock star Australia has produced,’ he wrote.

‘As he told me today on the phone, “I should have frightened you off booze.” Except it didn’t. It kind of had the opposite effect.’
