Davina McCall leads celebrity tributes to ‘generous soul’ Dale Winton after his shocking death

Davina McCall has led the a flood of emotional online tributes following the shocking death of beloved TV presenter Dale Winton.

The Supermarket Sweep and National Lottery star died at his home on Wednesday at the age of 62, prompting a host of fellow TV personalities to express their sadness.

Taking to her Twitter account, Davina wrote: ‘I am so so so sad to hear about Dale Winton a lovely, warm, kind, sensitive, generous soul with a touch of naughty! RIP.’

In response to her post, Ant McPartlin’s estranged wife Lisa Armstrong revealed that she was ‘gutted’ at hearing the news, particularly as she’d seen him just days ago.

The makeup artist wrote on the micro-blogging platform: ‘Absolutely gutted, only saw him last week. He was one of life’s true gentleman, a heart of gold with a wicked sense of humour… RIP lovely man x’

Britain’s Got Talent judge David Walliams simply tweeted that he was ‘heartbroken’, while Piers Morgan wrote: RIP Dale Winton, 62. Very sad news. A warm, funny man & superb TV presenter.’

On Wednesday night, a representative for the London-born star confirmed that he had passed away his home.

His longtime agent Jan Kennedy said in a statement: ‘It is with great sadness that we can confirm the passing of Dale Winton who died at home earlier today.

‘While we know many will share this terrible loss, we ask that you respect the family’s privacy at this time of grief.’ 

 

 

While no further details were revealed, a host of other stars chimed in to publicly share their grief with fans on social media. 

Sherrie Hewson wrote: ‘So very sad about the gorgeous Dale Winton worked with him many times! 62 is no age it’s hard to believe he’s gone. Good night lovely man.’

Sharing shots of Dale on Supermarket Sweep, fellow presenter Paddy McGuinness tweeted: ‘Sad news. Back in the day Supermarket Sweep was the programme to watch. Dale Winton was the perfect host, he made it all look effortless. RIP.’  

TV personality Les Dennis said: ‘So sad and shocked to hear that Dale Winton has died. He was a lovely, warm man who posed charm. RIP.’

Michael Ball tweeted: ‘So sad to hear that the true gentleman, the charming and so kind Dale Winton has been taken from us far to soon. RIP lovely man.’

Other celebrities who posted messages expressing their condolences included Boy George, Duncan Bannatyne, Antony Costa and Geordie Shore’s Holly Hagan
