Davina Rankin speak calls for safer, regulated cosmetic procedures

Married At First Sight bride Davina Rankin has been indulging in cosmetic enhancements since the tender age of 18.

So it’s no surprise that the former reality star knows the importance of safe practices within the industry.

On Saturday, the 27-year-old beauty was quoted in The Daily Telegraph calling for more regulation after a new inquiry revealed a shocking ‘explosion’ in risky backyard procedures.

‘When you’re dealing with people’s faces you could do irreversible damage’: Married At First Sight’s Davina Rankin has called for more regulation of cosmetic procedures as a new report revealed ‘explosion’ in unsafe surgeries

‘I just think it’s a necessity, like anything, especially when you’re dealing with people’s faces and you could do irreversible damage,’ Davina declared.

She added: ‘It (the cosmetics industry) needs to be regulated. I don’t think you should be able to muck around with that kind of stuff.’

The publication also claims the Instagram model advises people ‘check the credentials of their practitioner’ before undergoing any type of cosmetic procedure.

In a separate interview with The Telegraph last month, Davina revealed she gets lip filler every six months, and has been doing so for the past nine years.

She also admitted to having a ‘tiny bit’ of Botox in her forehead.

Speaking with TV Week back in January, Davina divulged that she had also undergone breast enhancement surgery at the age of 18 – and that her father footed the bill for the pricey procedure.

‘I was insecure about having a flat chest. It (the enhancement) did completely help me feel better about myself,’ the stunner told the magazine.

And it seems the sexy starlet isn’t averse to more aesthetic tweaks in the future.

In February, NW published an article in which Davina reportedly said: ‘I feel like surgery and filler is the way of the future… I’ve had a boob job, but now I want to go full Kim K with a Brazilian butt lift, too.’

Meanwhile, Saturday’s shocking report in The Daily Telegraph told of unregulated cosmetic procedures being performed in lounge rooms and hotel rooms that could leave patients with permanent, irreversible damage.

NSW Health has introduced new proposals to tackle the unregulated medical operations, with Parliament passing laws to introducing fines for storing dangerous drugs and using unlicensed facilities.

It comes after the death of Sydney woman Jen Huang, 35, who suffered a heart attack after botched breast surgery in 2017.
