An Uber driver was arrested on Sunday after allegedly raping a woman on the American University campus.

Metropolitan Police in Washington, DC say the incident happened between 3:20am and 3:50am Sunday morning.

The victim, who has not been identified, told police that her driver ordered her out of his car outside of Asbury Hall, at the center of campus.

A woman was reportedly raped by her Uber driver outside of this building on the American University campus early Sunday morning

She says the driver then ‘bent her over and penetrated her vagina with an unknown body part against her will’.

The victim appears to have first notified the police, who in turn informed campus police about the attack.

American University officials confirmed the attack in an email to students. The statement did not say whether the victim is affiliated with the university.

It is not believed that the victim and attack knew each other.

MPD have yet to release the name of the Uber driver in custody.
