Wine not? Andrew, a former wine maker, likely knows a thing or two about a good drop
On August 11, 2018, Robert, called the police to report an attempted break-in, claiming he had chased off the would-be intruder.
He stated that he had spotted an intruder on a ladder wearing a balaclava and pink gloves, and said he heard a zipping noise and a ‘male voice saying “meow” like a cat noise’, according to a report by The Sydney Morning Herald last year.
Robert also claimed to have found a ‘rape kit’ left behind at the property, containing zip ties, lubricant, condoms, Vaseline and super glue.
Feeling good! Andrew cracked a smile after finishing his glass of wine
It was later discovered he purchased the contents of the kit himself and fabricated the entire story, which led to an in-depth police investigation.
In January 2019, Robert was convicted of six offences, including stalking and intimidation, property damage and making a fake phone call to police.
He was ordered to pay $13,040 to New South Wales police in compensation, and was sentenced to a 12-month community corrections order, 300 hours of community service and fined an additional $660.
