A New York choir teacher and decorated National Guard band leader is facing charges for allegedly having sex with a 16-year-old student at his home.

Mark Kimes, 53, was arrested on Tuesday by the Suffolk County Police and charged with one count of criminal sex act in the first degree and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

An 18-year-old man alleged that the Moriches resident sexually abused him when he was 16 and a student at Hauppauge High School in Long Island.

‘Following an investigation, Seventh Squad detectives determined Kimes had inappropriate contact with the teen while serving as his teacher,’ police said in a statement, according to NBC New York.

In its own statement, the high school said that the teacher was ordered not to appear on school property and has been reassigned to his home.
