Deion Sanders cryptically railed against a ‘lie’ on Tuesday after his son Shedeur’s shocking NFL Draft slide to the fifth round.

Shedeur had at one point been touted as a top-five pick but waited 144 picks to finally hear his name called by the Cleveland Browns.

And following the trying weekend for the quarterback, his father took to X to relay a cryptic message.

‘A lie don’t care who tells it or repeats it. Its goal is to be heard,’ Deion wrote.

‘The truth could be standing right in front of u consistently for years but u don’t see it because a lie is in your mind. The Truth may not be as popular as a lie but the Truth wins in the end.’

The post comes as Shedeur’s approach to the draft process has been picked apart, with several reports sharing details of his allegedly less-than-stellar interviews with teams.

CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones in particular said that the quarterback ‘more or less sandbagged’ interviews with teams where he didn’t want to go.

‘I don’t know if he didn’t take them seriously, what it was, but he did not give it his all in some of those interviews.

Shedeur, notably, did not participate in any NFL Combine drills either, while some have pointed to the fact that he didn’t have an agent (beyond his dad representing him) as a reason he fell.

Regardless, Deion appeared to offer some words of encouragement for his son on Tuesday.

‘Let it go! Let it go & then Let it go! It doesn’t matter what they think, what they say or what they feel,’ he said.

‘God has the final say. You stay prayed up, stay focused & keep your Peace & watch God do what he does. Open up Windows, Doors & Create Opportunity for u.’

While he did put up great numbers at Colorado in 2024, as he threw for 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns, Shedeur was especially brash while speaking at the NFL Combine.

‘We went from Jackson State to Colorado and changed two programs back-to-back,’ he said.

‘You don’t think I could come to an NFL franchise and change a program again? It’s history. It’s always going to repeat itself.’

Ultimately, despite being taken far later than he would’ve wanted, Shedeur could have a chance to win the quarterback job in Colorado.

Starter Deshaun Watson is hurt, Joe Flacco is not the team’s future at 40 years old, Kenny Pickett struggled as a starter with the Steelers and fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel (who was picked in the third round) was ranked lower than Sanders by many draft evaluators.
