Tatler has revealed Delphi Primrose as its latest ‘It girl’ – with the 17-year-old daughter of Sotheby’s boss Lord Dalmeny labelled a TikTok phenomenon and supermodel in the making.
Delphi, who has spent the last five years in Scotland at Lady Dalmeny’s house in Earlston, amassed 7.4million views on one of her recent TikTok videos and finally signed with well-known modelling agency Storm in 2018, after being repeatedly scouted.
Her father, Lord Dalmeny, is the chairman of auctioneers Sotheby’s in the UK, while her family seat is the impressive Gothic Revival mansion Dalmeny House, to the west of Edinburgh, and which is currently home to Delphi’s grandparents the 7th Earl and Countess of Rosebery.

The Scottish society beauty looks every inch the modern muse when appearing in society bible Tatler’s August issue.
Delphi spoke about her current success on the social media platform TikTok, recalling: ‘I had a couple of videos that just blew up and it kind of goes from there.’
She now posts up to three times a day, adding: ‘Everyone can find something entertaining on there, because it’s spookily good at finding out what you want to see.’
But it’s not only TikTok which inspires the A-level student, who is soon to turn 18, with Delphi revealing her love of fashion and textiles.
‘Lockdown gave me a lot of time to be creative,’ she said. ‘I take old clothes and cut them up to make them into new things. I basically took all my mother’s tweed coats, so I have a huge collection.’

Both Delphi’s parents, who divorced in 2014 after having five children together, live between London and Scotland, and the various lockdowns have made Delphi keenly aware of how much her family means to her.

She said: ‘You have to treasure it and put effort into it. As you grow up and grow apart, it’s really important to be present, and to mindfully appreciate them in the moment, which has been a really good part of lockdown for me.’
Lady Caroline Dalmeny, Delphi’s mother, also recalled with amusement how family time could often be hectic when her children were younger, especially when you have five little ones under five.
Speaking about the juggling of bathtime, she said: ‘We had an old cottage in the Borders, way,
way, way up in the hills, only really accessible when the weather was good. It was beautiful but really basic, with no hot water. It had one of these 19th-century sinks, which were wedge-shaped and as deep as they were wide.
‘We had a tea urn that we plugged in for the hot water and would mix it with a bucket of cold water from the burn, and then the children would just fit vertically into these very deep sinks. You’d put them in and scrub them and get them out, and the soap was all peat-coloured and orangey. But that was the only way we could do it,’ she explained.

Currently studying for her A-levels, Delphi is interested in art and architecture, as well as sewing, embroidering, trampolining, skiing and tennis.
Delphi, who is one-third of a set of triplets, also revealed in the August issue how her siblings are ‘really close and reliant on each other’ following their parents’ ‘sad divorce’.
Caroline and Harry Dalmeny, only son and heir of the 7th Earl of Rosebery – and great-grandson of the 5th Earl who famously achieved his three ambitions of owning a winner of the Derby, marrying an heiress and becoming Prime Minister – share four daughters and a son.
