Delta Goodrem responds to backlash over Olivia Newton-John biopic

Delta Goodrem has responded to criticism of her performance in the Olivia: Hopelessly Devoted To You biopic. 

The 33-year-old singer tells this week’s issue of Stellar magazine that she’s proud of her work on the miniseries, and tried her best in the demanding role.

‘I know life can’t be a bed of roses. I take on the fact I’m always learning. I don’t profess to be perfect at anything. I just do my very best. I’m a hard worker’ she said.

She goes on to say that playing Olivia was a dream come true and a sense of a full circle. 

‘I was having this full circle moment with the Olivia project. When I got signed they asked me who I wanted to be, and I said Olivia Newton-John’, she tells the magazine.

She added: ‘Nothing was going to stop my heart being completely filled with love and appreciation for getting to do this.’

The stunning brunette has her tanned, oiled skin on display and shows off a hint of cleavage in the risque, plunging outfit.

Inside the magazine, her hair slicked back in a chic do, the statuesque singer wears a strapless dress and arranges her slim form in a seductive pose, a hint of her tanned legs on show.  

A further, moody image shot in black and white shows Delta looking sombre under a polka dotted veil. 

The Voice mentor copped a lot of flak for her performance as Olivia in the biopic which screened recently.

Irate audiences took to Twitter to vent their frustrations with Tweets such as, ‘Olivia must be cringing. So bad. Such a dodgy cheap production.’

Another Twitter user wrote, ‘That’s it, I can’t watch any more of this train wreck. Delta should be banned from television. Disgraceful’.  

It wasn’t all bad news, with some fans enjoying the singer’s performance as the Aussie icon, with one stating:  ‘I love Delta as Olivia!’
