Denny Solomona released by England ahead of Argentina Test

Winger Denny Solomona is among seven players who have been released by England ahead of Saturday’s Test against Argentina.

Eddie Jones has also sent home Piers Francis, Sam Simmonds, Nick Isiekwe, Zach Mercer, Tom Dunn and Charlie Ewels.

Despite doubts over their fitness, back-three pair Elliot Daly and Jonny May have both been retained – along with all of England’s Lions contingent.

The Red Rose coach is expected to rotate his household names over the three Test series.

Semesa Rokoduguni, Henry Slade and Alex Lozowski have been kept in camp to leave Jones with options to freshen up his backline.

Slade and Lozowski were among the England backs to take part in a kicking session with Jonny Wilkinson at Pennyhill Park on Tuesday.

Jones invited Wilkinson to help out for the first time last January, after which England won their second consecutive Six Nations title under the Australian.

Rookie No 7s Sam Underhill and Tom Curry are also among the 26 players retained for the series opener at Twickenham.
