Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry has put pen to paper on a historic $30million contract extension, his agent has confirmed.

The 31-year-old, who enjoyed a breathtaking debut season in Baltimore last year, agreed the largest deal in NFL history for a running back over the age of 30 with the Ravens on Wednesday.

Todd France of Athletes First, who represents Henry, broke the news of his client’s big-money extension on Instagram.

France wrote alongside a graphic with details of the contract and a series of photos: ‘Age is irrelevant in the NFL when you’re as focused and work as hard as Derrick!!

‘Everybody knows what a beast Derrick is on the field, not everybody gets to see the person he is off the field. I am lucky to work with a guy like Derrick!’

He then said to Henry’s girlfriend Adrianna Rivas: ‘I’m so happy for you and your family.’

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Ravens star’s new contract is said to include $25m fully guaranteed over the next two seasons.

Henry enjoyed one of his best individual seasons ever in 2024 despite Baltimore’s Divisional round playoff defeat to the Buffalo Bills.

After leaving the Tennessee Titans to sign a two-year, $20m deal with the Ravens last offseason, the former Alabama player registered 1,921 rushing yards – the second highest tally of his nine-year NFL career and most since 2020 – 325 carries and 16 touchdowns in his debut campaign.

Prior to the team’s elimination he also recorded 270 rushing yards,
