Derry Girls fans are left in shock after learning that Saoirse-Monica Jackson is dating Denis Sulta

Fans of Derry Girls were left in disbelief on Monday after learning who the sitcom’s main star, Saoirse-Monica Jackson, is dating. 

The Northern Irish actress, 28, went Instagram official with DJ Denis Sulta, 29, in September last year, but their relationship has not been one of common knowledge.

A tweet reading: ‘There are some random celebrity couples out there but Denis sulta and Erin from Derry girls takes the cake,’ prompted several stunned replies from those who were clueless to their romance. 

‘My head is gone. Why did i not know this,’ one reply read.

An additional string of shocked responses included: ‘can’t believe it’, ‘what on earth’ and ‘nahhh that’s mad’. 

Meanwhile, another fan of the Channel 4 hit wrote: ‘HOWWWW am I just finding this out wtf’.

Saoirse, who plays Erin Quinn in Derry Girls, went public with their romance by sharing two cosy snaps from a Scottish getaway at Monachyle Mhor Hotel in September. 

But the star soon found herself having to explain that she was not engaged after sharing a snap of Denis – real name Hector Barbour – on one knee. 

‘DISCLAIMER – NOOOOO…. This is not an engagement photo people Hec just had a long day on his feet [sic]’ she confirmed.

In the latest post shared last month, the couple beamed for a smitten selfie, whereby she referenced her beau’s 2015 track in the caption: ‘It’s Only Real [purple heart]’. 

Noting her sweet nod, someone replied: ‘Caption. very nice touch!’
