A desperate man secured a reservation at an in-demand restaurant – by pretending to be the Moroccan prime minister.

The unidentified diner was left disappointed after being told there was not enough room at the eatery for him and his family.

But refusing to be beaten, he called back minutes later and claimed to be the 62-year-old leader of Morocco, Saadeddine Othmani.

Duped into believing a VIP was coming to eat at the restaurant, believed to be in Russia, staff immediately booked him in.

Staff were so convinced that the diner was Prime Minister Othmani, that they even asked him to sign one of their plates.

Footage online shows the man shaking hands with a proud-looking chef.

The clip was shared online by Twitter user @Ihab8knicks, who claimed the man was their father.

‘We got the best table in the place and the chef answer him to sign a plate and take a pic (with) him.’
