‘He was at Surfers Paradise beach last night and went for a swim at 10pm with a trackwork rider, they pulled her out and they can’t find him,’ officials told News Corp.

‘The female track rider with him was rescued and was taken to hospital.’

A land, sea and air search commenced for the man, who entered the water near Tower 34 and was wearing only black shorts at the time.

The widespread search for the man continued at first light on Thursday morning.
