Diapers and Disney fountain in yard of house of horrors

This is the back yard of the Perris, California house of horrors where David Allen Turpin, 57, and Louise Anna Turpin, 49, charged with torture and child endangerment of their 13 children, have been living.

DailyMail.com has obtained photos of the couple’s scruffy backyard, the centerpiece of which is a Disney fountain showing Minnie and Mickey Mouse.

Although the family is not known to have had pets, a pair of cartoon themed bowls could be seen sitting on the back porch.

The rest of the garden appeared overgrown with a weed-filled lawn and straggling flowerbeds.

Piles of metal pipes could be seen strewn around, along with a rusty set of metal garden furniture and some diaper boxes.

Through a shabby screen erected in front of the French windows, heaps of clutter, including what appear to be books, could be seen inside the home

‘I never even knew they had kids,’ she said. ‘I never heard or saw them at all.

She added: ‘They don’t take care of their garden at all – it’s scruffy.’

Both Turpins made frequent visits to the employee-owned chain market, which specializes in bulk discount deals and is open 24 hours a day, and sits just over a mile from their Perris home.

Staff confirmed to DailyMail.com that the couple are regular shoppers but said: ‘We’ve been told not to talk but yes this is the main grocery store in the area. Yeah, it’s the one [they go to].

WinCo is a largely West Coast based chain, with stores in Arizona, Idaho, Utah and Texas as well as California.

DailyMail.com has approached WinCo Foods for comment.
