A man got a shock after opening the truck of his mother’s car to find a large bear sitting in the back and gnawing on a seatbelt.
Andres Dean, from British Columbia, caught the encounter on video after checking on the vehicle when its alarm went off.
‘Oh, hey, it’s a bear in the car,’ he said with a matter-of-fact tone. ‘Well that’s not good, is it?’
Dean, who posted in the video to YouTube, wrote that his mother called him at 3:30am Wednesday after something set off the alarm – and it seemed to still be in the car.

His mother is heard in the background of the video asking: ‘How the hell did it get in my car?’
Dean suggests that the bear may have opened the door itself.
‘Oh, your car has heavy damage,’ he said to his mother, and the bear, on cue starts, gnawing on a seat belt. ‘Oh yea, this is not good.’
His laid-back demeanor didn’t go unnoticed by people commenting online.

The video ended with Dean’s mother proclaiming, ‘Oh, my God!’
The bear was trapped in the vehicle, But Dean says there was no food inside and it was recently vacuumed.
‘This is a heavily habituated bear that is getting bolder in its quest for food as winter approaches,’ he wrote.
It’s not clear what happened to the bear after Dean’s encounter – but hopefully it had better luck finding food elsewhere.
