- Diego Costa returned to Atletico Madrid for £55million this summer
- The transfer was agreed after a summer stand-off between Costa and Chelsea
- Costa has appeared in the stands to watch his new team-mates face Sevilla
Following extremely delayed transfer to Atletico Madrid, Diego Costa has joined up with his team-mate – albeit in the stands – as he spectates his sides La Liga clash with Sevilla.
The former Chelsea striker managed to force a return to his former employers on Thursday after a summer of frustration and controversy clouded the striker’s future at the Blues.
But despite the agreement of a £55million fee, plus £5m add-ons, Costa’s conclusion as a blues player was not the way we would have wanted it to go.

The striker was reduced to exile himself in Brazil while he awaited the deal to materialise, but as Sportsmail has reported this week, ‘regrets’ the way his departure developed.
Costa, 28, helped the Blues to two Premier League titles during his three year spell at Stamford Bridge but was told – via text message – by former boss Antonio Conte he was surplus to requirements at the Bridge.
Shortly after, Conte performed a U-turn in the Costa saga by including the forward in his 25-man Premier League squad but naturally, Costa refused and preferred to stay on the sandy beaches of Brazil.
Watching from the stands, Costa’s new (also old) team can leapfrog Sevilla into second in La Liga and just a point behind Barcelona with a win.
