Diego Maradona Junior, son of the legendary footballer, has been admitted to hospital with coronavirus complications just days after his father was allowed home after having emergency brain surgery.

The 34-year-old revealed he had tested positive for Covid-19 via social media on November 5 and was admitted to hospital in Naples after his situation worsened, according to Italian publication La Repubblica.

Maradona senior was hospitalised last week and had to have an emergency operation to remove a blood clot from his brain.

The report indicates Maradona Junior is not in intensive care and has only been admitted to the Cotugna hospital as a precaution to help him deal with his symptoms.

It is indicated he had been struggling with coronavirus symptoms including a high temperature and a cough.

In his previous instagram post, Maradona Junior revealed he and his partner were symptomatic and said ‘I assure you it is nothing enjoyable’.

His father was driven away from hospital on Wednesday from the private Olvios clinic eight days after his admission as hundreds of fans and photographers tried to catch a glimpse of him. 

His lawyer, Matias Morla, has said that the 60-year-old will continue to receive treatment for alcohol dependency.
