A woman claims she found a fly in her three litre bottle of milk from Coles while she was making a cup of coffee.

The shocked customer from Queensland said she purchased the Coles brand Australian Fresh Lite Milk on Thursday and found the unwelcome insect shortly after.

‘Just made a coffee and a fly poured out of the brand new milk I literally just opened. Yuck,’ the woman posted to Facebook.

The stomach churning find generated a number of responses.

A woman claims she found a fly in her three litre bottle of milk from Coles as she was making a cup of coffee

‘I’ve never heard of people getting flies in their milk before but now I’m going to check every carton for the rest of my life,’ one person said.

‘I definitely won’t be drinking out of the bottle anymore,’ another person said

The woman said she emailed Coles but wasn’t completely happy with their response.

Coles reply indicated they had referred the matter to their National Quality Team who were investigating.

The representative said that while the manufacturing factory maintained a high standard of ‘cleaning and good housekeeping’ they could not use pesticides as they might contaminate the product.

They then told the woman she could return to the store for a ‘full refund or replacement.’

‘In short they are passing the buck and are giving me a refund on my milk,’ the shopper wrote.

Daily Mail Australia contacted Coles for comment.
