Young actor Walker Scobell is introduced as the title character, who discovers the stories of Greek gods and mythical creatures he grew up with are all real.
He will be put to the test as a demigod alongside his friends Annabeth, now played by Leah Sava Jeffries, and Grover, portrayed by Aryan Simhadri.
The teaser opens with Percy as a child visiting a museum and studying an epic Greek mythology–inspired statue with his mother Sally.
‘Perseus. That’s me,’ he says to his mother who confirms he is named after the ancient hero.

‘He was brave and kind and against all odds he managed to find his way to a happy ending,’ she says.
After a short but daunting montage, the trailer cuts to Percy when he is 12-years-old and being bullied by other kids.
‘I’m used to the world feeling weird to me,’ he says in a voiceover. ‘Like a puzzle with half the wrong pieces, but lately it all feels different somehow.’

Glynn Turman, playing Chiron, has some wise words for Percy, saying: ‘You are special.
‘When you are ready to hear what the gods have in store for you. They will tell you.’
Percy’s world then begins to turn upside down as he starts seeing strange signs from the gods, such as a Pegasus and vibrating artefacts.

His mother Sally says: ‘The stories I have told you about Greek gods and monsters, they are real.
‘This is crazy,’ Percy can be heard saying as his mother responds: ‘You are a half-blood and half-bloods are not safe in the world.’
As the trailer continues to unfold, the overarching plot is revealed as Percy’s father Poseidon reaches out to him for help retrieving the stolen ‘master bolt’.
The epic eight-episode series launches with a two-episode premiere on December 20 on Disney+, followed by new episodes weekly.
