The 47-year-old driver was arrested and charged with drink driving, driving while disqualified and driving with unrestrained children.

Police also arrested a male passenger who allegedly breached a suspended sentence.

‘This irresponsible behaviour is completely unacceptable,’ Senior Sergeant Angela Stringer told 7 News.

‘To place the lives of these children at risk by not ensuring that they wear seatbelts or are seated in appropriate child seats and driving under the influence of alcohol is sickening.

She said that NT Police will continue to target recidivist offenders who put peoples’ lives at risk on the road.
