Do you recognise this famous Aussie star?

A famous Aussie TV star left viewers shocked on Monday morning when he unveiled a very new look on Channel Nine’s Today Extra.

The comedian and Gold Logie winner looked indistinguishable with a greying long hair, beard and glasses.

Famed comedian Paul McDermott appeared worlds away from his usual clean cut look that he’s long been known for as he went on the show to speak about his current tour.

Even host David Campbell was taken aback by Paul’s new look during their interview.

‘Look at you now. You are different to your former self. You spent time on an island for 20 years with Wilson,’ David joked.

‘This is my Castaway look…  Eric Morecombe and an Ewok had a child,’ Paul laughed.

That’s more like it! Famed comedian Paul McDermott appeared worlds away from his usual clean cut look that he has so long been known for

Paul and the TV presenters viewed footage of himself performing with the Doug Anthony All Stars 30 years ago before discussing his recent tour with Tim Ferguson and Paul Livingston.

‘You look at the young fellow on the TV and in the suits. Did you think you would still be going this long,’ David asked.

‘I was hoping not to be. I was hoping to walk away from it a long time ago. Several times I wanted to walk away… It’s great to get together with Tim and Paul Livingston, Flacco on the guitar. It’s something I never thought I would be doing. It’s become a real source of joy for me,’ Paul said.

Paul, who just returned from touring with his longtime cast mates at the Edinburgh Festival, revealed that British comedian Dawn French attended one his shows.

‘Well she certainly came along to the show and stayed for the whole thingwhich can be trying. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea.’

During their chat with Paul, David and co-host Sonia Kruger also spoke about Tim’s battle with MS, a discussion they incorporate into their comedy show.

‘How is it working with Tim Ferguson who has been diagnosed with MS,’ David asked. ‘How does he travel and how is he working with it all?’

‘He’s quite sensational quite heroic in many ways,’ Paul said. ‘As he says in interviews it’s something – everyone has something they battle with everyday. For him it’s MS. He has to push through that brick wall. We all have our battles they could be minor or major.’
