But the creature clung on to the person’s ear as if refusing to be removed.

Eventually, it came free after the medic at a hospital in Singapore pulled forcefully with the metal instrument clasped around it.

According to the uploader of the video, the parasite eats the flesh of its host.

The clip was posted online where internet users were shocked and horrified.

But one user claimed that the parasite was not a flesh eating creature.

The commenter wrote: ‘It’s not a flesh-eater… It’s just a tick that sucks blood.

‘Many people who hike in the forest or own dogs that are allowed to play in the grass would have encountered them, even in Singapore. But still nasty.’

It is unclear what type of parasite the bug was.
