Does Ryan Gosling sing in the Barbie movie on I’m Just Ken?

Yes – Ryan Gosling does sing in the Barbie movie.

Not only does he feature on I’m Just Ken, but he can also be heard front and centre in the power ballad Push.

The songwriter surprisingly said that ‘when he really did start hitting the big notes, I was like, this dude is a vocal powerhouse!’

As well as hitting all the nots, he brought an emotionality to the recording, walking the line of ‘not being funny or parody.’

Ryan told GQ in May 2023 that he felt compelled to tell Ken’s story because ‘if you ever really cared about Ken, you would know that nobody cared about Ken.’

Perhaps this should not be a surprise to any of us, especially any familiar with the actor’s recent history, given his role in 2016 musical La La Land.

Who wrote I’m Just Ken in the Barbie movie?

The film’s soundtrack was masterminded by Mark Ronson.

However, he was not full of hope when he send the movie’s director, Greta Gerwig, the demo of Ryan’s track.

He told Vanity Fair that at the time he did not want ‘Greta and Noah [Baumbach] to think that I’m trying to provide the funny.’

However, not only were they fans of the song, but it transpired that Ryan was too, to say the least.

The actor was so keen on the tune that he proactively stepped forward to sing it himself, and Ronson said that he was ‘amazing,’ and that no adjustments needed to be made to the tune to accommodate the actor’s voice.
