A Dominos Pizza branch in Western Australia has refused to make night-time deliveries to ten Bunbury streets, saying youths in the area throw rocks at their delivery cars.

The store said they needed to consider driver safety in light of recent ‘anti social’ behaviour from residents in the southern Bunbury suburb of Withers, WA Today reported.

Delivery drivers said they had been targeted by youth in the area who threw rocks at their delivery cars, breaking one team member’s car window.

‘The safety of our team members is our highest priority and after several incidents of anti-social behaviour in which cars were damaged, Domino’s Bunbury has temporarily stopped deliveries to some areas of Withers,’ a Dominos spokesperson said.

‘Domino’s understands this decision is disappointing to our local customers and we thank them for their understanding.

‘Domino’s will work closely with the local police and looks forward to recommencing deliveries in the near future’.

The store said the decision has come in light of several other incidents over the past year but will offer discounted pick-up meals for Withers residents who will be affected by the delivery ban.

Other food delivery chains in Western Australia have worked with WA Police in helping to keep their workers safe.

Concerns over crime within Withers has sparked recent plans to gentrify the suburb.

‘Progress within the suburb of Withers is visible with the installation of closed-circuit TV cameras, the closure of alleyways, increased footpath networks, park upgrades and bus shelters,’ the Bunbury Mail reported.

Dominos Bunbury was contacted by Daily Mail Australia but declined to comment.
