Donald Trump and Melania ring in the New Year at Mar-a-Lago party for hundreds of friends and allies

President Trump and first lady Melania Trump entertained hundreds of guests at Mar-a-Lago Tuesday night, ringing in the New Year among family, friends and political allies.

But before the ball dropped, Trump had some predictions for 2020 – such as he thought there wouldn’t be war with Iran.

‘I don’t think that would be a good idea for Iran. It wouldn’t last very long,’ Trump chided.

He stood next to Melania on a red carpet outside his lavish Palm Beach resort. Thirteen-year-old Barron Trump stood nearby, watching the brief New Year’s Eve press conference.

‘Do I want to? No I want to have peace. And Iran should want peace more than anybody, so I don’t see that happening,’ Trump said, again saying it would go ‘very quickly’ if the two countries’ militaries engaged.

Trump also said he still had hope North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un would behave, responding to reports that Kim said his country is no longer to the pause in nuclear testing, to which he and the American president previously agreed.

‘I hope his Christmas present is a beautiful vase, that’s what I like, a vase, as opposed to something else,’ the president said, repeating comments he previously made.

‘I think he’s a man of his word, we’re going to find out,’ Trump added, referring to the two leaders’ previous meetings.

The president had a few last minute 2019 insults to toss out as well.

‘Nancy Pelosi should be ashamed of herself. She’s a highly overrated person. I know her well,’ Trump told reporters during one of his typical anti-impeachment rants. He also went after House Intelligence Committee Chair Adam Schiff, like Pelosi, a California Democrat.

Trump spoke for about nine minutes before heading inside to chat with family and friends.

At the opening of the red carpet, Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani, who’s central to his impeachment drama, stopped and mugged for the camera for minutes, while other guests strutted through.

Other prominent faces include My Pillow founder Mike Lindell, news anchor Lou Dobbs, Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk and Rep. Lee Zeldin.

Eric and Lara Trump walked through together, wishing reporters a Happy New Year.

Lara Trump told DailyMail.com her swan-like light blue dress was designed by Oscar Lopez.

Ivanka Trump, wearing a red satin number, walked the red carpet holding the hand of daughter Arabella. Husband and White House adviser Jared Kushner sauntered in along her side.

Donald Trump Jr. was accompanied by one of his sons and girlfriend Kimberly Guilfoyle.

Tiffany Trump showed up a little later than her older siblings, accompanied by boyfriend Michael Boulos.

Directly after, the parents of Melania Trump – Viktor and Amalija Knavs – walked through.

When the president and first lady made their appearance, with POTUS briefly talking to the press, the youngest Trump child, Barron, stood behind his parents.
