- Donald Trump tweeted his disdain at ‘probably’ being Time’s Person of the Year
- Andy Murray responded by repeating the tone and manner of Trump’s tweet
- He joked he would ‘probably’ be named BBC Sports Personality winner
Andy Murray might not be best known for his sense of humour but he demonstrated his funny side with a hilarious tweet aimed at United States president Donald Trump.
Trump took to Twitter late Friday, his tone dripping with the vanity and lack of self-awareness for which he has become synonymous with.
‘Time Magazine called to say that I was PROBABLY going to be named “Man (Person) of the Year,” like last year, but I would have to agree to an interview and a major photo shoot,’ Trump wrote. ‘I said probably is no good and took a pass. Thanks anyway!’

It was a little over an hour before Murray responded to Trump, who was awarded the Person of the Year going in 2016.
‘Bbc just called to say I was PROBABLY going to be named sports personality of the year but I would have to agree to an interview and a major photo shoot. I said probably is no good and took a pass. Thanks anyway!’ Murray wrote.
Murray is a three-time BBC Sports Personality of the Year winner but it is fair to say he faces very little chance of winning it this time around.

The 30-year-old has not played since losing the Wimbledon quarter-final against Sam Querrey in the summer due to a hip problem.
He is eyeing a return in time for the Australian Open in January. Earlier in November, Murray announced a split with coach Ivan Lendl – the second time in his career he has parted ways with the Czech.
