This is the moment drunk racegoers fought with a passing driver in an outburst of road rage.

The group in suits and shirts were drinking outside a pub in Doncaster town centre on Saturday evening after the St Leger Stakes race.

They spat at a passing red Volkswagen Golf, becoming rowdy and sparking angry scenes, say witnesses.

Denzil Shirt, 26, a passenger in a car behind the Golf, filmed the fuming driver leap from his seat and square up to the group.

After a woman wearing white stilettos and a pink suit fails to hold back a man wearing a beige shirt, he swaps several vicious blows with the driver.

Mr Shirt said the row spread to others in the group and car before the driver was ushered back to his vehicle.

‘It happened after the St Legers horseracing in Doncaster,’ he said.

‘I was just coming back and there was some confrontation in front of me.

‘The red car drove past and the guys spat on the car so the driver got out.

‘There was just no need for it all. The two main guys were throwing punches at each other and there was a bit of argy-bargy with other people in the group and passengers in the car.

‘There was lots of shouting and swearing but luckily nobody was hurt.

‘It wasn’t what I was expecting after a leisurely day at the races. They need to keep their emotions in check.”
