This is the moment a donkey nosedives through the roof of a house in Brazil, leaving a trail of debris in its wake for stunned owners to clear up.
The animal was grazing above the mountain property when it slipped and crashed through the ceramic tiles.
The startled family, who declined to be identified, called the fire service as they recorded the bizarre scenes.
In the video just two legs of the animal are seen protruding through the ceiling, then all four appear as the home owner cries: ‘It’s going to fall, it’s going to fall. Keep out of the way.’
Onlookers gasp in disbelief as the stricken beast tries to find its footing, kicking away more roofing material and opening up the gap, which causes it to topple further into the room.
Images show the dazed animal hanging head down into the kitchen. It doesn’t make a sound but dangles from the rafters with its hind legs trapped on the beams.
Meanwhile the residents who are panicking exclaim: ‘what on earth has happened! This is ridiculous!’.
The terrified donkey frantically grapples around as it tries to find a bit of stability by hoofing its way down the wall, but there is only one way out.
Plunging to the ground with a loud thud, the ass hits its head on the floor and rolls onto its back with all four legs spread-eagle in the air.

Clambering to its feet, the bewildered mammal stands stock still in the kitchen.
Even though the kitchen door is wide open with the light streaming in, the disorientated jackass doesn’t appear to have a clue how to get out.
Onlookers laugh with relief when the see the fully grown wild donkey, which is about 4ft tall and 40 stone, has survived its crazy descent.
They joke: ‘When we don’t get rain we get falling donkeys instead’, while another adds only an animal as sturdy as this could do something so ‘incredibly ridiculous’.
Firefighters who turned up at the scene after the donkey’s nose dive, said: ‘It’s been raining quite heavily in the region recently and this may have contributed to the donkey losing its footing from above and tumbling down on top of the building.
‘By the time we arrived the animal had fallen into the house. Fortunately no one was injured and there was only material damage with repairs need to the roof.’
The incident happened Monday in a hillside residence in Cajazeiras, in north east Brazil.
