A world traveller with a head for heights has shared a stomach turning video showing himself inching along the side of a mountain on a hike dubbed the most dangerous in the world.

The Mountain Huashan Plank Trail in Shaanxi, China, is 7,070ft, located on the mountain’s highest peak is believed to claim 100 lives a year.

Brave adventurers can take on the hike which can take between five to seven hours if done in full, climbing to the summit of all five peaks.

Those who just wish to do the infamous plank walk can get a 15 minute cable car to the west peak and do a 30 minute hike to the South peak to find the plank walk.

The gut wrenching video shows one adventurer creeping along a plank bolted to the mountain, which is at times less than 11 inches wide.

Hanging on to the ropes strung along the mountainside and clipped with a harness, the thrill seeking traveller decides to pull out his camera.

The daredevil takes on the infamous plank walk while only holding on with one hand

Using one of the hands he could be clinging on for dear life with, he pans the camera around to show the incredible drop beneath him.

At one point he turns the camera to the footpath to reveal that the plank has finished and how he is manoeuvring along groves carved into the rock.

He lets out a single ‘Ahhh’, summing up how most viewers of the video are left feeling.

The climbers in front of him can then be seen descending a steep decline, which looks terrifyingly narrow.

Tourists who wish to climb the peak must register with their details following a tragic incident in July last year which saw an unknown man fall to his death from the trail – and was unable to be identified.
