Donut King has launched an energy drink flavoured treat

  • Australia’s first ‘energy donut’ has been launched by treat shop Donut King
  • It’s made out of the drink ‘V’, which includes caffeinated substance guarana
  • Customers were initially skeptical the product was only an April Fool’s joke
  • But one eager donut lover has already tried it – and it tastes like a gummy bear

Australia’s first ‘energy doughnut’ has been launched by treat shop Donut King and contains the all-important guarana ingredient.

The caffeine-laden ball of dough is being shared online as the doughnut ‘which will improve you a bit’ and promises to be a flavour sensation.

After the announcement was made by Donut King on social media, fans were divided over whether they’d try the cryptonite-coloured candy.

‘This could be an alternative on those mornings when you usually have a can of V at work,’ one excited fan said, tagging a friend in the comment section.

‘I wanna try it but I don’t wanna die haha,’ another added.

‘As if doughnuts weren’t bad enough,’ a third chimed in.

There was some initial skepticism from customers who assumed the unusual flavour was an April Food’s joke.

But alas, it isn’t – with more than one person admitting to buying one.

‘Guys it’s actually not an April Fool’s joke I literally saw it and posters up in shops in Penrith,’ someone wrote on Facebook.

Another loyal consumer shared a snap of the product, admitting it is like ‘eating one big sour gummy worm’ and it ‘wasn’t too bad.’

They can be purchased from any Donut King stores for $4 a pop, and there is currently a deal which allows you to buy a V with it for an extra $2.
