Double tragedy as man and a woman drown at a popular surf beach despite desperate efforts from witnesses to revive them

  • Two people have drowned at Frazer Beach on the Central Coast 
  • The pair are believed to be aged in their 40s 

A man and a woman have drowned at a popular surf spot on the Central Coast.

The pair were pulled from the water unconscious onto Frazer Beach at Frazer Park shortly after 4pm on Wednesday.

Bystanders commenced CPR before NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived on scene.

Despite the best efforts of paramedics, they could not be revived. 

The man and women are yet to be formally identified but are believed to be aged in their 40s.

The region is becoming somewhat notorious with drownings, with the three kilometre stretch of coast south of Catherine Hill Bay claiming 20 lives since 2010

Officers from the Tuggerah Lakes Police District are investigating the incident and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.

Frazer Beach is a popular spot amongst campers and is not patrolled by lifeguards. 

The region is becoming somewhat notorious with drownings, with the three kilometre stretch of coast south of Catherine Hill Bay claiming 20 lives since 2010.
