Dozens of doses of Pfizer’s Covid-19 vaccine is thrown out because it wasn’t stored correctly
- 25 vials of vaccine were stored in a fridge, but temperatures were unconfirmed
- Health Department says vials were destroyed ‘out of an abundance of caution’
More than 120-doses of Pfizer’s Covid-19 vaccine have been thrown out following a storage error at a nursing home in Melbourne.
Aspen Medical has advised the federal government that 25 multi-dose vials were potentially compromised after they were delivered to the St Vincent’s aged care facility in Werribee, south-west of Melbourne.
The Victorian Health Department has provided a statement on the matter, declaring that ‘out of an abundance of caution, a medical decision was made not to use the remaining vials.’
