Doctor Foster viewers rejoiced on Tuesday night as Gemma’s calculating ex-husband appeared to get a taste of his own medicine – when it emerged that his new wife could be cheating on him.
The show saw spurned GP Gemma Foster drive to her ex husband’s house to check up on her son Tom, who has abandoned her to live with his adulterous father.
Peering through the window, Gemma saw Kate – Simon’s new, younger wife – kissing a mystery man goodbye while wearing a silk robe.
The brief scene appeared to delight fans of the show – who watched Suranne Jones’ character unravel in season one when she learned of her husband’s affair – with one tweeting: ‘You get what you give, pal.’

The explosive first season, which hit screens in 2015, saw Simon cheat on Gemma with Kate, eventually getting the student pregnant – and ultimately ending their marriage.
Twitter users went crazy following the suggestive scene, apparently delighted by the prospect of Simon getting his ‘comeuppance’.
Gemma had discovered her son has been telling friends he ‘doesn’t love her’, so went to her ex husband’s new house in order to spy on him.
As she stared in through the floor to ceiling windows at her son playing on his phone, she spied something odd taking place in another area of the house.
Simon’s new wife Kate, with whom he has a two-year-old child, was ushering a mystery man out of the door wearing just a dressing gown.
The pair kissed goodbye as Gemma watched from the bushes outside.
Twitter users were elated that someone had finally treated Simon the way he had treated Gemma.
One tweeted: ‘LOOOOL SHE’S CHEATING ON HIM.’
‘Once a cheater, always a cheater! This is going to get spicy!!!’ another posted.
A third said: ‘This has put me off ever getting married.’
A fourth posted: ‘Messy, messy messy.’

Simon didn’t seem surprised by Gemma’s admission about Kate’s affair, insisting it was his wife’s godfather Mark
But viewers could yet prove to have their hopes of an affair on Kate’s part dashed.
Later in the show, Gemma threatened her ex with the information, telling him: ‘I could tell you something that I know but it would hurt you. I was watching your house last night and saw Kate with a man that wasn’t you.’
Instead of looking shocked by his ex’s admission, poker-faced Simon said: ‘Mark’s her godfather, anything else?’ he says.
The scene wasn’t explained any further, leaving fans of the show guessing.
