‘Once we got the front door open and the air got in it was like a bomb went off in there,’ Mr Carinci told 7 News

‘It was like jumping into a burning car, you could feel it on your hands, feel it on your face,’ said Mr Winters.

After searching through the burning house using the clothes on their backs to protect them from the flames and acrid smoke, the pair discovered their friend was not at home.

When their friend, Brett Berelli, did arrive home there was relief all round.

As firefighters arrived to fight the blaze, Mr Berelli thanked his mates who had put aside their own safety to save their mate.

While the house and contents were damaged, noone was injured in the blaze.

‘I’d do it again for him and I’d hope someone would do it for me,’ Mr Winters said.
