Dramatic video shows a FedEx van speeding out of control

This is the dramatic moment a FedEx driver loses control of his van and starts sliding down an icy hill in Connecticut.

Surveillance footage taken on Wednesday shows the vehicle sliding down the street after driving on a thin layer of ice on Eddy Avenue in Meriden.

The van is then seen hitting a trash can, bouncing off in the opposite direction and clipping a car parked in a driveway.

Thankfully, the van comes to a stop shortly after hitting the bin, and there were no injuries or damages, Meriden police said.

The accident happened at around 5.30pm, and, according to ABC News, a tow truck was called to pull the van out off a grassy lawn.

Most of the tri-state area was under a weather advisory on Wednesday, as a storm brought in snow and ice into the region. 

AAA advised drivers to be on the lookout for dangerous, icy road conditions, and to allow extra time for their journeys and stay home if possible.  

Rain, ice and snow began hitting the state at around 9am – roads in Fairfield County were coated and the pavement became slick, WFSB reported. 

Some local roads were still ice-encrusted Thursday morning, with many school districts like Hartford Public schools delaying classes.
