Draymond Green was tossed from the Warriors’ first-round playoff loss to the Kings on Monday night, but the Golden State forward was adamant afterwards that he did nothing wrong after stomping on Sacramento’s Domantas Sabonis.

With roughly seven minutes left in the game, Malik Monk missed a shot for the Kings, and as Steph Curry grabbed the rebound and prepared to dribble down the other end, Sabonis held onto Green’s leg.

The four-time champ then stepped onto the Kings big man’s chest, and Green was ejected from the game with a flagrant two foul, with Sabonis being handed a technical.

After the loss, which put the Warriors in 2-0 hole in the series, Green stopped well short of offering an apology.

‘My leg got grabbed, second time in two nights,’ he told reporters. Referees just watch it. I gotta’ land my foot somewhere, and I’m not the most flexible person so it’s not stretching that far. I can only step so far with him pulling my leg away.’

‘The explanation was I stomped too hard… I guess ankle grabbing is OK.’

Green’s teammate Klay Thompson admitted after the game that he wasn’t in the right, but also questioned Sabonis’ behavior.

‘What are you going to do when someone grabs your foot when you’re running full speed?… That’s not cool.’

ESPN reported after the game that Sabonis was undergoing X-rays on his ribs/lungs, and later updated that the 26-year-old had appeared to avoid injury.

Additionally, the outlet’s publication Andscape reported that Green asked for an X-ray himself on his right ankle, believing the soreness he apparently felt to be related to Sabonis’ ankle-grab.

Nonetheless, it will be Sabonis who’s the far happier of the two on Tuesday as his Kings – in the playoffs for 17 years – defended homecourt to take a 2-0 series lead into Golden State.

As for Green, his Monday night antics were not new.

He’s been fined more than $1.2million throughout his career for a series of indiscretions, and was infamously suspended for Game 5 of the Warriors’ 2016 Finals series loss vs. the Cavs after a flagrant foul in Game 4.

A suspension could certainly be in the cards this time around, too, after he was ejected from Game 2.
