Dream Home viewers call out grim detail in contestants’ kitchen: ‘What were Taeler and Elle thinking?’

Dream Home Australia sisters Taeler and Elle suffered a blow on Sunday night’s episode.

The duo decided to take on four spaces at Jacinta and Jordan’s Punchbowl home, bravely transforming the laundry, powder room, butler’s pantry and kitchen.

The kitchen featured a stone benchtop and splashback and a large island bench with a stovetop, while the sink was tucked away in the corner near the butler’s pantry.

The sisters from Victoria received praise for the kitchen’s opulence, however, viewers noticed one very morbid detail in their design.

‘I just realised that the wall to wall stone kitchen reminds me of a mortuary, the island is like a slab where the bodies lay,’ one user wrote on social media.

‘That kitchen looks like a mausoleum. What were Taeler and Elle thinking?’ another commented.

‘As expected what a horrible kitchen done by Taeler and Elle. Bland and boring…yuk,’ a third wrote.

And they weren’t the only ones to assert the sisters’ design came up short.

The judges also criticised the kitchen’s lack of functionality and excessive use of stone.

‘Immediately I just feel disappointed… because there is a way to do en masse stone, but I don’t think they got it quite right here,’ judge Rosie Morley said.

Meanwhile, Simon Cohen said ‘It’s just too much stone. I think they’ve gone too bold, too hard.’

‘What’s disappointing is [the sink] is probably, next to the fridge, the most utilised item in the kitchen, and you’re over here with not even elbow room for doing the dishes,’ Lana Taylor added.

Meanwhile, the duo’s butler’s pantry and laundry were both criticised for their lack of storage space.

The pair were given a score of 19 out of 30, placing them at the bottom of the week’s leaderboard.

Dream Home continues Tuesday 7.30pm on Channel 7 and 7plus.
