The couple, who escaped uninjured, were asleep in home and woke to the sudden noise before confronting the driver.

The owner of the house, a man known as Vic, spoke to 7 News about the accident.

‘I said “who are you, just get out” because I wanted him to get out and then my wife to get out first,’ Vic said.

‘He said to me “do you know there’s a gas leakage” and I said yes.’

According to Vic, the driver went to a neighbors home to warn them of a broken gas main as a result of the crash.

After informing the residents of the danger of a broken gas main, he then fled the scene on foot.

The damage to the home is extensive, with the front brick fence and kitchen destroyed in the crash.
